It’s not that serious
There are a lot of serious things going on - in our personal lives and on a global scale.
And when we’re talking about hour health and how we want to live our lives, that can be pretty serious, too. In fact, I encourage my clients to dig deep—to find “the why that makes you cry” to motivate them to prioritize their energy.
Being a parent is a weighty responsibility, and how we impact our children matters. Owning a business is no joke, either.
And then there’s everything else—the economy, our extended families, our relationships, the environment, etc. etc.
So, yeah, life can be heavy.
But here’s the point: we need to make room for the fun.
Let’s talk about why that’s so important and how we can do that.
Laughter is actually good medicine.
They say laughter is the best medicine, and while you’re not going to cure anything with a joke, it’s actually really good for your mind and your body.
Let’s spell it out:
It lowers blood pressure
It strengthens your immune system
It triggers the release of endorphins (this can even temporarily relieve some pain!)
It improves your blood flow and strengthens the heart
And so much more.
In fact, it’s even been suggested that laughter can help you live longer.
So…what makes you laugh?
Maybe it’s silly videos of cats wearing human hands. Or cheesy dad jokes. Or a comedian that you really like.
Whatever it is - how can you add laughter into your day?
Let your imagination run a little wild
Don’t be afraid to be silly. In my last group session, we had a woman who told us that she likes to imagine everyday objects with big googly eyes. To say we didn’t expect that was a HUGE understatement. But it underscores the point: everyone can be a little silly.
While she hasn’t started peppering her neighbourhood with googly eyes (yet), just imagining it brings her a little extra joy in her daily life. And that’s more than enough to build some good energy!
What are your googly eyes?
Make it part of your day.
This is where our children really teach us a lot. We have a tendency to divide our time into categories. Fun is its own category, separate from our health, separate from our work, separate from everything.
Kids put fun into everything!
For example, the other day, I was walking home with my daughter after dropping off my older two kids at school. It was a beautiful day, and the sun was shining. My daughter asked if we could play her favorite song (because whose kids are not obsessed with the new Trolls soundtrack?).
Normally, I would say no, but this time, I agreed. I played the song on my phone, put it in my pocket, and we walked down the street holding hands, her little three-and-a-half-year-old self singing with all the confidence in the world.
People passed by were smiling, and I realized this was pure joy—walking with my daughter, listening to her sing and dance, with no rush to be anywhere. It was a moment of sheer happiness.
I’m not saying that you need to turn your next walk into a one-woman show. What I’m saying is that we can learn from our children and integrate joy into our day, no matter what we’re doing.
Having FUN as Energized Moms
This is one of my favourite parts of the Energized Mom Method program - where we think about how to make it fun.
So whether that’s making an intentional effort to add fun to your day or habit stacking to make a chore less of a chore, we talk about how to add fun into our goals.
Because we need to keep fun in fundamental changes.
If you’re looking for a way to improve your health but don’t want to get bogged down in calorie counting or food tracking and want to actually have fun, that’s what we’re about! Hop on a discovery call to find out if the Energized Mom Method is for you!
